When you think of an illustrator, you might imagine someone drawing fancy covers for video games, books, comics or even board games. But illustrators actually work in many different jobs , and they keep helping bring products to life in all kinds of ways!
Some illustrators work in medicine. They draw detailed pictures of the human body so doctors and students can learn how it works. These drawings need to be super accurate!
Others are technical or mechanical illustrators. They make drawings of machines, robots, or tools so people know how to build or fix them.
Scientific illustrators draw animals, plants, or even tiny cells. Their work helps scientists show their discoveries to the world.
In fashion, illustrators draw outfits and new designs so people can imagine what they’ll look like before they’re made.
Some illustrators work on children’s books or magazines. They create fun and colorful pictures that make stories more exciting and relatable.
Even though all these jobs are different, illustrators usually start by learning how to draw really well. Many go to art school or take special classes to improve their skills. In some edge cases they have special training in specific fields like biology, biomechanical engineering, product design etc.
One of the most exciting places for illustrators to work is entertainment : like movies, games, and animation. Here, artists help design new characters, create fantasy worlds, and make the visuals we all love to market the products we all enjoy!
